Shopify: The Fastest Way to a B2C Storefront – and Far Beyond.

Shopify is the de facto standard for B2C storefronts – fast to launch, cost-efficient to run. We recommend it honestly, and we know when something else fits better.

    Why We Recommend Shopify

And Why It’s Not the Right Choice for Every Project

Shopify is the commerce backend that genuinely puts business teams in control. Products, variants, pricing, orders, customer accounts, discount rules, shipping logic, reports – all in one system that is intuitive to operate, quick to extend, and reliable to run. For B2C storefronts with a clear product focus – particularly brand manufacturers, specialist retailers, and businesses with an international or multi-market setup – there is hardly a more cost-efficient and operationally sound choice.

Shopify for Brands That Outgrow the Template. Let’s Talk.

Whether a brand manufacturer going international, a multi-market or multi-brand setup, a content-commerce experience, or a complex ERP integration – we bring the engineering depth that genuinely differentiates Shopify projects at this level. An initial conversation costs nothing.

Shopify also shines in self-service B2B – for dealer portals, reseller setups, and simpler B2B commerce flows, Shopify is a first-rate option. Where Shopify reaches its limits, we say so: for very complex B2B processes with deep ERP dependencies, for sophisticated content architectures as the primary requirement, or when full control over commerce logic is desired. In those cases we talk about Medusa or commercetools.

    What We Build with Shopify

From fast B2C launches to complex multi-brand and integration projects.

    • Brand & Manufacturer Storefronts

For established brands and manufacturers that want to move quickly without sacrificing quality: a well-built Liquid theme, the right app selection, and a clean configuration the business team can operate independently. Shopify’s strength is that speed and quality are not mutually exclusive here.

    • Content-Commerce Experiences

When products need to be narrated, experienced, and placed in context: Hydrogen storefront with headless CMS integration for product storytelling, editorial pages, and campaign experiences in perfect harmony with the purchasing process.

    • Multi-Brand & Multi-Market Setups

Multiple brands or markets on one Shopify Plus instance: shared commerce logic, brand-specific storefronts, market-specific pricing and assortments. Shopify Plus enables these setups – we build the architecture for them.

    • ERP & System Integrations

Shopify deeply integrated into existing enterprise infrastructure: ERP systems for order and inventory flow, PIM for product data, CRM for customer accounts, logistics systems, and marketing automation. Where typical Shopify agencies stop, we start.

    • B2B Self-Service & Dealer Portals

Shopify Wholesale, Shopify B2B, and custom customer portals for dealers, resellers, and simpler B2B commerce flows. Faster to launch than enterprise B2B solutions, without compromising the essential requirements.

    • Custom Apps & Extensions

Bespoke Shopify apps and custom storefronts for requirements the App Store does not cover: specific checkout logic, custom product configurators, specific admin extensions, and custom APIs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Shopify and Our Partnership

Answers to the questions we hear most often.

Bright Global recommends Shopify for: brand manufacturers and specialist retailers – particularly with international or multi-market setups – B2C storefronts where the standardised Shopify backend is a genuine strength, self-service B2B and dealer portals, and projects where fast launch and operational cost-efficiency are priorities.

We are probably not the right fit for: small single-market shops with straightforward requirements, generic retail without brand depth, or projects where budget does not support proper custom development.

Shopify is less suited for: very complex B2B processes with deep ERP dependencies and custom commerce logic, when full control over the platform is desired, or when commerce should have no licensing costs. In those cases we discuss Medusa or commercetools.

Our Shopify Expertise – Across the Full Project Lifecycle

From platform selection to ongoing operations – the right partner at every stage.

Planning & Setup: Shopify for Larger, More Complex Storefronts

Not every Shopify project is the same. Our Shopify projects typically involve larger brands, brand manufacturers, or businesses with complex international or multi-market setups – not generic retail or small single-market shops. We help with the decision between Shopify and Shopify Plus, with multi-store architecture, with integration strategy, and with the frontend approach. For most projects, a well-built Liquid theme is the right and most cost-efficient answer. Hydrogen is the right choice when content-richness, frontend freedom, or CMS integration makes a headless approach worthwhile. That decision belongs at the start of the project.

Liquid Theme Development: Fast, Clean, High-Converting

Liquid is Shopify’s native template stack and – for the majority of our Shopify projects – the right and most cost-efficient approach. A well-built Liquid theme is faster to develop than a custom headless storefront, runs on Shopify’s own infrastructure, and can be extended by the business team independently. This is not a fallback for simpler projects; it is the professional default. We develop Liquid themes from scratch or substantially customise existing themes – with a focus on performance, accessibility, and editorial flexibility. Not copy-paste of App Store theme templates, but real development work for the specific brand experience.

Hydrogen & Headless: When Shopify Goes Headless

Hydrogen is Shopify’s React-based framework for fully decoupled storefronts. It is the right choice in specific scenarios: when content-richness requires a headless CMS, when brand experience demands frontend freedom that Liquid cannot deliver, or when a multi-channel setup makes a decoupled architecture worthwhile. For many projects, Liquid is the better answer. When Hydrogen is warranted, Bright Global is among the most suitable Shopify partners for Hydrogen projects – because we know the headless and MACH context from a wide range of implementations. A Hydrogen storefront combined with a headless CMS such as Contentful or Storyblok is the setup for genuine content-commerce: an experience that feels like a brand website and lets you buy like a shop.

Custom Integrations: When the App Store Is Not Enough

The Shopify App Store contains thousands of extensions – and many are excellent. But sometimes a plugin is the wrong path: performance problems from too many apps, poor UX from third-party UI elements, or simply a requirement no App Store plugin covers. Bright Global builds custom integrations for Shopify of every kind: ERP systems (SAP, Infor LN, Microsoft Dynamics), PIM systems, CRM, logistics providers, payment providers, marketing automation, and industry-specific legacy systems. This is the area where Bright Global clearly differentiates from typical Shopify agencies – we are not a theme shop, we are an engineering team.

Operations, Extension & Replatforming: The Partnership After Go-live

We remain the technical point of contact after go-live: for performance monitoring, Shopify updates, extending the store with new markets or brands, and the ongoing development of custom integrations. We also support replatforming projects – both onto Shopify (migration from WooCommerce, Magento, or other platforms) and from Shopify to another platform when the project outgrows the Shopify architecture.

Two Paths to a Shopify Storefront – We Master Both

Liquid or Hydrogen: the choice depends on the project, not our capabilities.

    • Liquid – Fast, Native, Cost-Efficient

Shopify’s native template stack. The fastest path to a fully customised store. Runs on Shopify’s infrastructure, requires no separate hosting setup, and can be managed by the business team independently. The right choice for most B2C projects.

    • Hydrogen – Headless, React-Based, Maximum Freedom

Shopify’s React framework for fully decoupled storefronts. Ideal when a headless CMS is needed for rich content, or when the frontend experience exceeds what Liquid can deliver. Bright Global brings the MACH context that Hydrogen projects require.

    The Art of Content-Commerce

When Brand, Content, and Shop Become One.

Most Shopify stores look like Shopify stores. That is not a criticism – it is the natural consequence of theme-based approaches optimised for efficiency rather than differentiation.

For brands where the experience matters as much as the product, we build differently. A Hydrogen storefront connected to a headless CMS – Contentful or Storyblok – dissolves the boundary between brand website and shop: product pages as content-rich as magazine articles, campaign pages that lead directly into the purchasing process, an overall experience that weaves brand, content, and commerce into a seamless journey.

This is where Bright Global’s CMS expertise and Shopify work become one. On the backend side, Shopify is only as strong as its integrations.

When orders need to flow into an ERP, when inventory must sync with a merchandise management system, or when customer data must stay consistent across CRM and Shopify – most Shopify agencies stop here. We do not. Deep integrations with SAP, Infor LN, Microsoft Dynamics, and other enterprise systems are precisely where engineering depth makes the difference.
